Post Published On:

Qualified Thomas 大学 students will volunteer to help prepare tax returns for some members of the community for free through the sponsorship of Thomas 大学 and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

TU will be the site of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) where certified student volunteers will prepare the tax returns of eligible individuals through walk-ins each Wednesday from Feb. 7 through April 17 between 1 p.m. 还有5p.m. in the Smith-Bonvillian Building.

VITA will also be offered at the Thomas County 公共 Library, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Thomasville, on Tuesdays by appointment.

Eligible individuals include those age 60 or older, earn an annual income of $65,000或以下, or persons with disabilities.

Individuals must bring their tax information such as W-2, 1099, 1098, 或1095表格, along with their social security cards or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) letters for all persons on their tax return, and a government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license.

Wendalyn Frederick, assistant manager of Budget and Finance at TU, will be the on-site Program Coordinator. Student volunteers are certified tax return preparers. They’ve passed the Volunteer Standards of Conduct certification exam, and have been successful in the Intake, Interview and Quality Review exam to greet and assist in obtaining client information.
